TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT THE NSX THAT SPENT 20 YEARS UNDERWATER

There aren't many deals on first-generation Acura NSXs right now. But one that we wrote about a few weeks ago certainly was. It sold for just $8500, which is a deal if you didn't see any photos of the car. In reality, this NSX was more than just a little bit of a wreck, it had been sitting underwater for 20 years after being reported stolen in 2003. Yeah.

The car was bought by Helix Auto Works, a shop in Maryland. When we spoke to Jay, a founder of the shop, after the car was purchased, he told us that the goal was to make it run again, but wasn't sure if it'd be a full restoration or a track machine. Either would be a tall order, since it appears essentially everything will need to be replaced or heavily refinished.

The Loch NSX Monster as they're calling it (good name) will need a lot of time to become whatever the end game is, but it's a worthy effort and may still cost a fraction of an NSX in even acceptable driving condition. The video below was filmed mostly vertically (booo) but provides an up-close look at what the guys at Helix are up against. They have a lot to do.
